The raised edge is barely 1/2 inch; the snap-on edge pieces have sharp ends that soon cause tears in the flimsy 20 mil tarp at the points between the sections. Water that gets past the edge is pulled under the mat; try to fold it back to vacuum up that water, and it cracks.For the price, I'd hoped for something much better.
