The Long-Shining Waters ReviewLong Shining Waters is a lyric but dark book. Sosin is a beautiful writer, a poet really, and her book is worth reading if simply to savor her use of language.Sosin's Lake Superior is a dangerous neighbor, driving two of her main characters to the edge of sanity and beyond. The Ojibwa woman's story is powerful and stays with me, as does that of the fisherman's wife. The least memorable, save that it takes place near Schroeder where I live A View of the Lake, is that of the bar owner. There is a fourth and very strange voice in the book and one is never quite certain who or what it is. It varies at times so that just when you think you know where it comes from, it changes voice.The Long-Shining Waters Overview
