Dead Air ReviewI'm one of those individuals who love a good mystery, especially when it represents my home state of Mississippi. In DEAD AIR author Joe Lee uses not only his skills as a storyteller but his knowledge of the state and the relationship between the media and law enforcement to make DEAD AIR a must read.
After a popular news anchor is found dead detectives Jerome Washington and Tim McDaniel are on the case trying to piece together exactly what led to the murder and who those responsible. They are not alone, however, in their search for the truth. Reporter Carolyn Davis is also on the case, even risking her own safety to get to the truth.
There are a couple of themes at work here as the story develops. One is the fact that things are not always as they appear, even for those we think we know because we see them out in public or on television. There is also the fact that when in danger of being exposed, there is no limit to how far some will go to keep their secret hidden.
What I also like about the book is that as we are dealing with the fact that a person in the public eye has been killed, it doesn't stop the other obligations of law enforcement and the press, meaning that there is always something more tugging for your attention. Even as one crime is solved, the book shows that for some there is never a shortage of work to do.
