Truth or Bare ReviewRichard Cahill's the master of character for this "sub genre" of crime fiction. I call it a sub genre because it doesn't fit my conventional ideas of genre, which is a good thing. Cahill slips from crime novel to literary character-driven novel with the skill of his too-clever lawyer Ted "Speed" Mckeon -- one of my favorite characters in crime fiction this year. He manages to create a "stinging" social commentary but in the brilliant guise of a great crime novel. What binds it all together is a very subtle but wonderful sense of humor. The characters are genuine, even though they seem alien at first -- denizens of the underworld of seedy "whack" shacks and sex stores. I read this in one day -- I couldnt' put it down. Highly recommended to anyone over 18.Truth or Bare Overview
