Rainfall and Bullets ReviewI personally know "Sgt Cooke", he is a dedicated writer and researcher. As he was writing, I read some sample chapters, was very impressed, and anxious for the completed book. This book is hard to put down, you don't want it to end and I am looking forward to many more books written by him. Keep up the good work. Cars from a Marriage ReviewAfter the first chapter of Cars From a Marriage I thought I was reading a memoir. The story reads so easily and the feelings are so real that I forgot it was fiction and thought I was reading Debbie's story. I grew up in Montclair, NJ and especially enjoyed the tidbits about the colonial on Hawthorne Avenue, running to Krauser's and getting high in the dank basements while house hunting. The funny thing is, I now live in Virginia and could also relate to Ivy's hometown, Charlottesville and her southern upbringing - although Ivy is anything but your typical southern belle. I absolutely loved this story. Debbie alternates chapters between the voices of Ellis and Ivy (husband and wife). Each relating their point of view as Debbie takes us through their ups and downs, their successes and failures, their joys and their fears, their fantasies and their sins. Any couple who has been married for more than a couple years will certainly relate to their tale with much laughter and perhaps a twinge of guilt. I absolutely loved this book and would highly recommend Cars From a Marriage to all my friends.Cars from a Marriage Overview

Original Mercedes-Benz Coupes and Cabriolets and V-8 Sedans 1960-1972 (Original Series) ReviewThe "Original" series of books tend to be well-illustrated and replete with the kind of minute detail that lovers of the given vehicles described enjoy poring over. This volume by Tim Slade is on a par with the rest, with the exception of a few typos. If you love these cars, or own one, or just aspire to, it is quite a good literary drive. There are a few typos, and this particular volume does not have the option and color charts that the similar volume on 113 Mercedes does have, but overall it is well done. As a driver, I am familiar with all of the mentioned vehicles and I think Mr. Slade has done justice to a group of automobiles well worth writing about.Original Mercedes-Benz Coupes and Cabriolets and V-8 Sedans 1960-1972 (Original Series) Overview

The Winters in Bloom: A Novel ReviewLisa Tucker is a marvel. When I read THE SONG READER in 2004, I thought it was one of the best debut novels I'd ever read. What is amazing about her writing career is that each novel continues to raise the bar; each new novel continues to surpass the last one in creating riveting story lines, fascinating characters and surprising twists. THE WINTERS IN BLOOM is her sixth novel and it's truly her best yet. (If you don't trust me, trust PAT CONROY who raves, "Few contemporary novelists come close to understanding families in trouble with the insight and compassion of Lisa Tucker. The Winters in Bloom is one page turner you will not want to miss.")
I'm not going to spoil your fun by revealing too much about the plot because one of the great joys of this compelling, funny, tender and moving novel is the way Tucker layers her tale, revealing mysterious bits and pieces along the way. No one is better at plotting twists and surprises like Tucker. All I'm going to say is that the small son of a very over-protective mother and father disappears from their back yard....and the hunt is on. Family secrets are brought to the surface that illuminate each character's motivation. As all the pieces fall into place and all questions are finally answered, you're going to have a strong urge to re-read the book so that you can marvel at how cleverly everything was laid out with perfect logic and how each satisfying "reveal" not only pushed the plot along but also deepened your understanding of the characters involved.
This is a novel that will stick with you long after you've finished it. I could not put it down. Every time I reached the end of a chapter, I'd tell myself, "Okay, just one more..." I haven't felt that way since I read THE HELP.
This is a psychological thriller and a family saga brimming with unforgettable characters and tension-breaking humor. Don't miss it!The Winters in Bloom: A Novel Overview
